Selected wine: Chianti Colli Fiorentini Il Castelvecchio ‘05
The estate of the Rocchi-family continues to make progress in quality, proving itself at an excellent quality/price-level. Ruby red, particularly intense, the nose is dominated by fruity sensations of blackberry and raspberry, along with herbal notes, in particular aromatic herbs. In the mouth the taste is fresh and agreeable, well-balanced, with a retrolfactory persistence that recalls liquorice.

Grand final for the estate of the Rocchi family. Il Brecciolino ’04, Supertuscan, 
a basis of sangiovese, with the addition of petit verdot and merlot, has become a great success. This is a clear sign of the progress made in the last years, thanks to the interesting work and the passion that Filippo and Stefania are dedicating to the winery. Brother and sister are sharing equably their tasks : he takes care of the vineyards and the cellar, she manages the commercial part. It has been quite a job, considering that the winery in origin had been set up to produce wine in bulk. They started with the reimplantation of the vineyards, replacing them by clones and more suitable vines and then they passed to the cellar. Their efforts are showing reassuring results. Good is the Chianti Colli Fiorentini ’05, with fresh and inviting aromas, the body is pulpy and well-balanced. Curious and intrigant the Numero Otto ’06, of 100% black canaiolo grapes, with an enchanting nose of mentholated notes, a tasty and dynamic body, and a long finish.

A lot of years have passed since Filippo Rocchi started to manage in first person the family’s estate. He got down with it at once, but in an area with a good wine vocation, however without an important denomination, it requires time to rise in level and to eliminate prejudices. Today we can say that Castelvecchio is one of the wineries with higher perspectives in the Colli Fiorentini area, and one of the most interesting ones of the whole area. The splendid proof is the Brecciolino 2004, that represents the natural consequence of the engagement and great care given till now, and is fortified moreover by the result of the very pleasant and original Canaiolo Numero Otto.

Our cellar is open for all tourists that are fond of Tuscan wines and Extra Virgin Olive Oil . 
Tasting of one of our representative wine (Chianti Docg Santa Caterina or IL Castelvecchio Chianti Colli Fiorentini) is free.
Opening hours for direct selling: Tuesday till Friday from 10–12 am / 3- 5 pm Saturday 9-12 am

Guided Tasting by appointment 
for groups (min.4 / max 16 pax) - time of visit : 2 hours 
Cost: 20 Euro/person

Visit to the cellars with explanation about vinification and wine-aging. Guided walk to the vineyards on request. Possibility to visit the Chapel of San Lorenzo ( XII th century – Romanesque style)
For a better organization the tastings will be on TUESDAY and FRIDAY morning 10-12 am or in the afternoon 5-7 pm. /reservation required. 
On demand we are able to organize the visits on a different day and hour according to the necessity of each group and depending on our availability.
